Community News is a free publication for Denver Colorado. It
is 32 pages, published monthly. Our publication is available in a
vast array of stores, businesses and libraries. We are also
available through subscription (a small fee applies to cover the
cost of mailing). During the summer months, students from Lincoln
High School deliver Community News door to door in several
neighborhoods.
Community News
began in Southwest Denver in 2005, and has grown. It is a
community-oriented publication, listing Colorado events, local
houses of worship, recipes, and articles on fitness, health, pet
care and other topics of general interest. Our philosophy is based
on giving a voice to people who have something to say, while
maintaining high standards of decency and diversity.
One of the goals we
continue to support is that of providing a quality publication with
advertising rates even the smallest budget can afford. Our current
issue as well as all previously published issues will be found soon
on this website, free for you to download in whole or in part. We
have not edited the previously published issues, so any typos that
were in them as they were originally published, are still
there. Currently
all our 2008 and 2009 issues are available on this site.
As
we get the 2005, 2006 and 2007 issues online, we may condense them
down by deleting the ads, but all articles on pet care, health,
recipes, humor (jokes), and whatever else we put in originally will
remain intact. The condensing is basically to save space on
the website, and make the download for readers go
faster.
Way up at the top of this page is a link to our
various pages. One for locations (where you can pick up a copy), a
link for churches/houses of worship in the Denver area, a link to
our advertising rates (yes we would like to sell ads and our prices
are really really low!), and a link to all our back issues that we
currently have available online.
If you wish to send us a
recipe, please send it to community.news@hotmail.com and include a picture of
the finished dish if possible. We will print it and list your name
as the person who submitted it.
If your organization is
hosting or participating in an upcoming event, let us know and we
will put it in if we get it in time.
If you have a pet care
question, you can send it to us and we'll pass it along to Dr. Kirk
Cito or Dr. Kathleen Brown, two veterinarians who write monthly
articles for us.
If you wish to enter the Find Ernie Contest
(usually on page 14 of each issue), you can print out the contest
entry form and mail it to us at P.O. Box 19143, Denver, CO
80219. Or you can scan it and email it. Or you can just email
us your information with "Ernie Contest Entry for the Month of ...."
to community.news@hotmail.com
If you win a gift certificate or gift card for a place that you
can't go to, let us know and we'll send you $10 instead of a gift
card.
We
accept articles, fiction, non-fiction, poetry, drawings and photos
for publication. You will retain all rights to
the material, and we will print it if appropriate. Articles
could include pet care, health, environment, history, recipes,
jokes, politics, religion, or anything else you feel moved to write.
We will NOT print anything hateful or racial, or anything we deem to
be offensive. (Controversial topics are okay with us, because that
gets people to thinking and their letters to the editor can rebut or
support such topics.) You may mail the items to us, or email
them to us. If you email, we prefer documents in word (.doc)
format. Pics/graphics are preferred as .jpg, minimum of 200
dpi for best print quality. Include your mailing address and
we will gladly send you a copy of any issue in which we have
published your work. |
